Theme: Strive for rigour, connectedness, supportive environments and diversity in pedagogy – supported by digital technology

IWBNet invites you to attend the Second National ITL Masterclass National Conference to be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 June 2012.

This conference is first and foremost about striving for the highest in your teaching practice. In this day and age you can only do this if you support your teaching practice by using digital technology competently. You will be seeking peak performance in the use of digital technology in your teaching.

The conference is not traditional in its approach. It has been organised in three formats so that delegates participate in:

A Cohort Session, in 4 blocks of time totalling 5.5 hours over two days. Prior to the conference, delegates choose one topic of interest only, from several available topics (see topics below). All participants who choose the same topic will form a cohort and work together to discuss and reflect on the topic for the duration of the Cohort Session. Delegates in each cohort will be able to have deep, meaningful, conversations about the chosen topic. They will sit together, to brainstorm, hypothesize, and then create a product as a result of these conversations. The product will also assist participants to recall their thinking and ideas after the conference. Each cohort session topic will be led and facilitated by a talented hand picked Australian educator. The educators are considered by their peers to be the ‘cream of the crop” in terms of their educational and classroom practice and the ways they embed digital technology into their teaching and learning practice. They do not necessarily use digital technology 100% of the time, but when they use it they use it for a sound educational purpose. In this conference format, participants will leave the conference with a highly valuable Personal Learning Network (PLN).

Several Face to Face Chat Sessions chosen from a wide range of single 60 minute sessions selected, lead and facilitated by the participants themselves. The face to face chat sessions allow delegates to select topics that they want to learn about. Starting before the conference, delegates throw ideas and topics up that all delegates can consider. Delegates offer topics they would like to share about and suggest topics they would like to learn about. The most popular ideas, sessions, and conversations will be assigned a room and a volunteer facilitator, so that the conversations can take place.

Several Pre-prepared Sessions chosen from a wide range of traditionally organised single 60 minute sessions. These are sessions the title and content of which are notified prior to the conference and which delegates select prior to attending the conference. The sessions will be run as either, presentations, workshops or facilitations.

Who should attend?
The delegates who attend this conference will have a great interest in improving their teaching practice and reflecting on contemporary best practice pedagogy. They will have a desire to exploit the potential of digital technology to assist educational and classroom practice. They will be competent to advanced users or aspire to be competent to advanced users of digital technology. They will have had considerable experience in using digital technology in the classroom and they will be looking to network with like minded colleagues to reflect on “master practice”. They will be seeking to attain peak performance in using digital technology in teaching and learning.
